Open Positions
Dog Rancher
Lead off leash dog ranch visits at our private ranch on the coast. Full day shifts 8-5 Monday-Friday — one to three days per week – ideally, combined with Dog Handler job below. No seasonal employees accepted for this position.
Necessary requirements:
- Must be 21+ and legal to work in the United States
- Must have a valid California Driver’s License and be a responsible driver (CLEAN DMV record)
- Able to drive a large passenger van
- Experienced and patient with dogs
- Physically fit and able to handle 3+ hour hikes
- Must have superb communication skills
- Should have outdoor skills and good directional sense
- Must be able to work independently as well as with a team
- Must have flexible hours and be able to work weekends and holidays if required
- Good time-management skills – This is a fast-paced job
- Must have reliable daily transportation to and from San Carlos
- Must be willing to work in all weather conditions
- ** Customer Service and Office skills are a PLUS!**
Daycare Dog Handler
Work, play and cuddle with dogs in our indoor/outdoor newly remodeled “green” daycare/boarding facility. Flexible shifts – AM, PM, evenings and weekends. Full or part-time. Seasonal and permanent positions available.
Necessary Requirements:
- Must be 18+ and legal to work in the United States
- Experienced and patient with dogs – we’re willing to train the right person
- Physically fit and able to lift a large dog crate and be on your feet for at least 6 hours
- Must be able to work independently as well as with a team
- Must have reliable transportation to and from San Carlos
- Must have good time management skills – this can be a fast- paced job
- Must have flexible hours and be able to work weekends and holidays if required
- Must be willing to work in all weather conditions
- Must be willing to clean and clean up after the dogs
- ** Customer Service and Office skills are a PLUS!**
Team Leader/Daycare Supervisor
Candidates will assist the owners and existing management team in managing the day to day operations of this 24/7 business. This is a “working supervisor” position. Candidates should expect to both manage staff and perform daycare handler tasks themselves.
Customer Service
Exceeding customer expectations of care and service for our human and canine clients
Communicating with clients about any physical or psychological observations that will help with the well being of their dog
Operations
- Independently manage daily operations of the daycare
- Day to day running of the facility which includes but is not limited to managing staff, scheduling breaks, scheduling grooming, assigning dogs to groups, feeding dogs, managing a dog pack, cleaning, laundry, etc.
- Work with staff and management to ensure the safety of the dogs and staff by monitoring and recording dog behavior
- Maintain a well-run facility by creating (with the rest of the management team) and enforcing all policies. Help develop and improve systems for business processes. Establish and implement business policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, with owner and management as necessary
Staff Management
- Manage staff and assigning specific duties
- Train new employees and participate in hiring decisions
- Responsible for the coaching, development and support of staff members
- Making sure that all staff understand and are adhering to policies, procedures and standards, conducting them in a supportive and professional manner.
Ideal candidates for the position would:
- have previous experience managing people and previous experience working with animals –at a daycare, vet, kennel, groomer or related business
- be able to delegate responsibility, be experienced and skilled at managing people and giving clear, consistent directives
- be passionate about customer service and detail oriented
enjoy working in a fast paced environment and able to deal with changes in a quickly growing business - be physically fit and capable of handling all size dogs
- have great organizational skills and be able to manage multiple priorities, decisions and tasks simultaneously
- have strong leadership qualities and be able to get excellent performance from their support staff
- be interested in ongoing career advancement and enrichment through performance and achievement.
- Ideal candidate will want to be promoted to General Manager.
- certification through San Francisco SPCA, Marin Humane Society and/or Certification Counsel for Pet Dog Trainers highly desirable. Be committed to using “positive” training and behavior management strategies.
- have flexible availability and be willing to work on weekends, evenings and holidays
