    Frequently Asked Questions

How does doggy daycare work at Smilin Dogs?
Dogs play in groups according to their size and temperament. They can arrive and depart anytime during our open hours Monday through Friday. We have open adjoined indoor and outdoor space for each group. When it’s hot we run misters and have pools out. Each group is supervised by one of our handlers trained in understanding dog body language and behavior. We use treats, timeouts, and positive reinforcement to manage behavior. Our handlers also provide cuddles and games such as follow the leader or bubble blowing to keep their group relaxed and interested.
How are the daycare playgroups organized?
Dogs are grouped according to size and temperament. We may rearrange groups during the day to make sure that everyone is having a great time.
Are dogs supervised the entire day?
We have handlers in the daycare rooms all day long.
What kind of flooring and play areas does the daycare have?
Each of our groups has both indoor and outdoor space. Our indoor spaces are covered in rubber flooring that is gentle on feet and joints. Outdoors is a mix of concrete, fake grass, and woodchips.
Will my dog be indoors or outdoors?
Your dog will choose where to be according to their own desires.
What do I need before my dog's first day of daycare?
Your dog must be current on four vaccinations (Rabies, HDPP, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza (CIV)) and come for a temperament assessment so that we can make sure they are safe to play with other dogs and will enjoy our environment. During the temperament assessment we’ll also show you our facility, review our procedures, and answer any questions you have.
What are your daycare hours and rate?
As of 2026, a day of daycare is $54. Our detailed prices are listed on our Pricing and Hours page.
Our happy dog parents say it best.
“He absolutely loves coming and I can see how much you all appreciate him for being himself. Everyone is so nice to answer all my questions as I train myself to be a good dog mom.” – Murphy and Christy
